juneteenth festival mission statement

The Juneteenth Festival is an educational and cultural celebration of FREEDOM! Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. The festival preserves the historical significance of June 19, 1865, while celebrating African American freedom and achievement. Through varied cultural expressions, we commit to educate and elevate awareness in this all-inclusive, community wide celebration. The festival promotes diversity, instills local pride, and encourages volunteerism, community engagement, and respect for all cultures.
